I said, ‘Can I get you some coffee, Mr De Niro?’”

As for recent work, Trejo has shot a move called From a Son, an intense family drama directed by his own filmmaker son, Gilbert.

“It was the most emotional thing I’ve ever done in my life!” Trejo fesses, the premise focused on a father who embarks on an urgent search for his drug-addicted son. “God, he got me to just like sob and then I couldn’t stop!” Did making Inmate #1 have a similar impact? “I lived it so there’s no surprises there - but I was really happy with the way they did it!” he quips.

“Because making a movie there’s a lot of steps that can make it or break it; there’s lighting, there’s editing, which is probably the most important thing in a film, and the way they edited it, it was just really beautiful.

“I’m really proud of what they did.”

TICKETS for the London West End staging of hit musical Hamilton can cost in excess of £100 for a prime seat in the stalls of the Victoria Palace Theatre.

Thankfully, subscribers to Disney+ can get the beast seat in the house for considerably less money when the film of the original broadcast production directed by Thomas Kail arrives on the streaming service this week.

Filmed live in 2016 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in New York with the original cast, the Tony and Olivier Award-winning musical seamlessly blends rap, hip hop, R&B, jazz, blues and classic Broadway to chart the rise and fall of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton with book, music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Over the course of two acts, the show explains how Hamilton (Miranda) shaped America, tracing his roots as an immigrant from the West Indies to his pivotal role as right-hand man to George Washington (Christopher Jackson) during the Revolutionary War.

Political rival Aaron Burr (Leslie Odom Jr) plays a key role in Hamilton’s fortunes as he risks his marriage to wife Eliza (Phillipa Soo) to join the battle against the British led by pompous, preening King George III (Jonathan Groff).

Expletives in two of the songs have been muted for a family audience and there is an on-screen

A WIDOWER discovers a shocking secret about his late wife in writer-director Hlynur Palmason’s revenge thriller, which bucks conventional wisdom by adopting a glacial pace in keeping with the rugged, windswept landscapes of Iceland.

Grizzled police chief Ingimundur (Ingvar Sigurdsson) renovates a house for his daughter to distract him from thoughts about the death of his beloved wife (Sara Dogg Asgeirsdottir) two years ago.

Her car careered through a roadside barrier in poor visibility and tumbled down the mountainside.

As Ingimundur looks through his wife’s belongings, he discovers a photograph of a local man inside an unreturned library book.

Rage slowly bubbles to the surface as Ingimundur becomes convinced that his wife was having an affair.

Turning his back on the law that he vowed to uphold, the grieving widower sets out to learn the truth about his late wife’s fidelity.

Accompanied by granddaughter Salka (Ida Mekkin Hlynsdottir), Ingimundur stalks his unsuspecting prey, waiting for the perfect moment to demand answers.
