Public Works and Transport Ministry announces new fees
NEW fees for driving tests, licences and MOTs have been published by the Public Works and Transport Ministry following months of delays.
An English language version of a document detailing the new motoring costs was published on the ministry’s website on Tuesday. The amended regulations have been backdated to 1 January 2020.
The annual cost of registering a petrol-powered private motor vehicle is now 0.39TL per kg for vehicles weighing up to 1,016 kilos; 0.68 TL per kg for those weighing 1,017 to 1,270 kilos; 1.68TL for vehicles weighing 1,271 to 1,524 kilos; and 2.35TL per kg for vehicles that weigh more than 1,524 kilos.
The fees and corresponding weight categories are the same for “vehicles powered by fuel other than gasoline” while for vehicles with hybrid engines the fees range from 0.24TL per kg for the smallest cars, and up to 1.10TL per kg for the heaviest.
Electric vehicles attract the lowest tax costs, ranging from 0.15TL per kg to 0.77TL per kg.
Fixed fees are in place for other types of vehicles, such as lorries, buses, ambulances and limousines.
The cost of taxing motorcycles and scooters is based on the size and type of engine, with fees ranging from 77TL to 530TL.
The cost of Motor Vehicle Inspection Certificates has been set at 39TL for agricultural vehicles; 78TL for “motorised threewheeled vehicles, motorcycles and scooters (excluding initial registration) (including electric vehicles)”; and 265TL for “others (excluding first registration)”.
The cost of a learner’s licence is now 384.90TL, a “student driving licence exam” 395TL, and a “motor vehicle driver licence exam” 530TL.
Motorists applying for a driving licence will now have to pay 384.80TL for a two-year licence; 514.70TL for a three-year licence; 789.50TL for a five-year licence; or 1,314TL for a 10-year licence. An “international” driving licence costs 805TL.
