NCCCT to make a ‘fresh start’ at annual meeting

- By KEREM HASAN

THE North Cyprus Cancer Charity Trust (NCCCT) will be looking to make a “fresh start” when it holds its annual general meeting on October 28.

Those were the words of NCCCT member and volunteer Vicki Karaca, who spoke to CyprusToday this week.

She made a call for people to come forward and become a member of the NCCCT for just 5TL per year and to take part in the AGM that will be held at Pia Bella hotel in Girne at 10.30am.

“We are looking onwards and upwards for the NCCCT and want to make a fresh start, with new committee members,” Mrs Karaca said.

“We want to put behind us the turbulent times of the past without going into any of it.

“It is the time to come together for a fantastic cause

with new members in the committee, as well as more involvement of not only expats but also TRNC nationals. We want to increase the number of events.

“We have spoken with our lawyers and submitted our financial report.

“We will work hard to restore trust and confidence in one of the most important cancer charities, that has always been at the heart of the expat community.”

Explaining what the NCCCT has planned for the future, Mrs Karaca said: “Our first issue will be to elect the new committee at the AGM, and to be transparent and open about everything that will be done, so that people can see what we are doing.

“We hope that the new start will be of benefit to cancer sufferers and to the trust.”

The AGM will be “open to everyone” and “people can become a member of the trust beforehand and even take part in the election to stand on the committee,” she added.
