Art in print

-

A FINE arts print painting exhibition has opened at the Yeniboğaziçi campus of Near East University (NEU).

The exhibition at the campus’s Grand Library Fine Arts Gallery was opened on Thursday by Public Works and Transport Minister Resmiye Canaltay.

The exhibition can be visited until Friday, July 16, and entry is free of charge, a library spokesperson told Cyprus Today, but was unable to confirm opening times and days.

Visitors will be able to view 20 artworks that have been prepared with the contributions of NEU Faculty of Fine Arts and Design lecturers Prof Yücel Yazgın, Prof Mine Okur, Dr Gökhan Okur, Dr Raif Kızıl and Selçuk Yalovalı.

The curator of the exhibition, Prof Erdoğan Ergün, said that the artworks, that will be included in the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts collection, are the product of “tremendous effort and intense disciplined work stemming from the nature of printmaking”.

He added that the paintings also reveal the “perspectives, working methods and techniques of their artists”.

“Our exhibition consists of periodic artistic works produced in large sizes by the members of our faculty, whose working disciplines are traditional printing methods used at the printmaking workshops of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design.

“I think that art lovers will enjoy watching all the technical and creative processes related to printmaking in this exhibition.”
