Pandemic risk categories
WORKING out in the gym, eating at a restaurant indoors and going to the cinema are just some of the activities that have been deemed “high risk” by the Health Ministry’s Communicable Diseases High Committee in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic.
They listed activities under “low”, “moderate” and “high” risk categories, due to growing concern over the rising number of Covid-19 cases.
The committee stated that it is “less risky” to carry out activities in places where the number of people and contact is low. Here is the full list:
Low-risk activities: Accommodation in a hotel or holiday home in a rural area; walking, jogging or cycling with others; playing noncontact sports (such as golf or tennis); camping in accordance with the physical distancing rule; outdoor barbecues in accordance with the physical distancing rule (fewer than 10 people); receiving a takeaway delivery from a restaurant; grocery shopping; going to a doctor’s clinic (with adequate ventilation and physical distancing).
Moderate-risk activities: Air (plane) travel; going to the beach while following social distancing rules; bus travel (with adequate ventilation and social distancing); going to amusement parks (outdoors); children’s play areas (outdoors); swimming in a public pool while following appropriate distancing rules; playing low-contact sports (volleyball, etc.); participating in an outdoor social programme with family and friends; meals with fewer than 10 people in compliance with physical distancing rules; going to a restaurant /tavern/cafe/patisserie with an outdoor section, in accordance with the rules of physical distancing; going to a hairdresser/barber and beauty parlours; yacht cruises (outdoors); going to museums, libraries and exhibitions; going to shopping centres; working in a indoor office environment while following social distancing and hygiene rules; going to school or university; working in a factory/manufacturing; weddings, engagements or other ceremonies (where social distancing and hygiene rules are applied).
High-risk activities: Going to the gym; eating indoors at a restaurant; playing sports with high or full contact (football, basketball, etc.); going to nightclubs; staying in a dormitory/lodgings, construction site, nursing home for the elderly; going to casinos; attending mass prayers in a house of worship; going to big concert venues; attending an event at a sports stadium; places that serve open buffet meals (indoors); going to a bar/club/disco; going to the cinema; going to a betting shop, internet cafe, massage/spa salons.
