Diving event for physically disabled people
THE Civil Defence Organisation Directorate, North Cyprus Orthopaedic Disabled Association and Foreign Press Association organised a diving event called “Unhindered Blueness” for physically disabled people at the Girne Alsancak Civil Defence Organisation Recreational Facilities.
President Ersin Tatar, outgoing Civil Defence Organisation president Necmi Karakoç and his replacement Atilla Karaca, Foreign Press Association president Rasıh Reşat, disabled participants and members of the press attended the event.
According to a statement, President Tatar said in a speech that the North Cyprus Orthopaedic Disabled Association provided activities for disabled people during his term as Prime Minister, and that he carried out “important work” with the Association.
“There is a great sensitivity and tenderness towards disabled people in the TRNC,” Mr Tatar said. He emphasised the importance of finding a place in society for disabled people, enabling them to participate in all kinds of activities and that the state facilitates convenience for disabled people.
Mr Tatar continued: “I congratulate the North Cyprus Orthopaedic Disabled Association for its work. Over the last three years, our Civil Defence Organisation president Karakoç has done very beneficial and important things. He is now leaving us. I would like to thank him once again for his service and wish the best of luck to the new Civil Defence Organisation president Karaca.”
Mr Tatar thanked the Foreign Press Association for taking part in the event and stressed that they played a “big role” by undertaking the task of reporting the events and activities in the TRNC.
