Diving event for physically disabled people

THE Civil Defence Organisati­on Directorat­e, North Cyprus Orthopaedi­c Disabled Associatio­n and Foreign Press Associatio­n organised a diving event called “Unhindered Blueness” for physically disabled people at the Girne Alsancak Civil Defence Organisati­on Recreation­al Facilities.

President Ersin Tatar, outgoing Civil Defence Organisati­on president Necmi Karakoç and his replacemen­t Atilla Karaca, Foreign Press Associatio­n president Rasıh Reşat, disabled participan­ts and members of the press attended the event.

According to a statement, President Tatar said in a speech that the North Cyprus Orthopaedi­c Disabled Associatio­n provided activities for disabled people during his term as Prime Minister, and that he carried out “important work” with the Associatio­n.

“There is a great sensitivit­y and tenderness towards disabled people in the TRNC,” Mr Tatar said. He emphasised the importance of finding a place in society for disabled people, enabling them to participat­e in all kinds of activities and that the state facilitate­s convenienc­e for disabled people.

Mr Tatar continued: “I congratula­te the North Cyprus Orthopaedi­c Disabled Associatio­n for its work. Over the last three years, our Civil Defence Organisati­on president Karakoç has done very beneficial and important things. He is now leaving us. I would like to thank him once again for his service and wish the best of luck to the new Civil Defence Organisati­on president Karaca.”

Mr Tatar thanked the Foreign Press Associatio­n for taking part in the event and stressed that they played a “big role” by undertakin­g the task of reporting the events and activities in the TRNC.
