President and officials congratulate the Kıbrıs family
KIBRIS Media Group celebrated Kıbrıs Newspaper’s 32nd birthday this week.
A-N Graphics (KIBRIS) Ltd Board of Directors Chairman Asil Nadir, Founding Vice Chairman Nur Nadir and Kıbrıs Media Group staff, including from Cyprus Today, attended a small celebration held at the company’s Lefkoşa headquarters on Monday.
Mr Nadir said that he is very proud to celebrate the 32nd anniversary of Kıbrıs, whose first issue was printed on July 11, 1989.
Stating that Kıbrıs has always considered the interests of the country since its establishment, Mr Nadir said that it has never compromised its principled stance in 32 years.
He thanked the whole team for their devoted work, noting that the Kıbrıs Media Group has been working constantly despite the difficulties experienced during the pandemic.
Mr Nadir also thanked the people who have embraced Kıbrıs and shown
their support for 32 years.
Expressing that Kıbrıs Newspaper is a source of great pride, Mrs Nadir conveyed her thanks to all Kıbrıs Media Group employees.
Mrs Nadir pointed out that the press industry works without the concept of time with great effort. She also thanked the public who have chosen Kıbrıs for 32 years and made it what it is today.
Mrs Nadir also provided information about the company’s latest project, stating that the support Kıbrıs has received from the public has also brought about social responsibility projects to benefit the public.
In cooperation with Alsancak Municipality, Lefkoşa Central Lions Club and the Forestry Department, Mrs Nadir said that wooden bird nest boxes are beginning to be placed in the forest area of Alsancak National Park to protect bird species and that many bird boxes have been placed on behalf of Kıbrıs Media Group.
Following the speeches, a nest box was placed on a tree near the entrance to the Kıbrıs Media Group building.

Meanwhile senior figures in the TRNC sent messages of congratulations. President
Ersin Tatar said: “The contribution of the Turkish Cypriot press in the struggle for the existence of the Turkish Cypriot people on the island of Cyprus is an undeniable fact.
“Those who believe in the struggle and are dedicated to it have taken their place in the ranks of the fight through their press duties.
“Thirty-two years have passed since Kıbrıs Newspaper began publishing on a meaningful day, July 11, 1989.
“Including technology and professional journalism, Kıbrıs newspaper has brought together many positive features under one roof in the Cypriot press.
“Even today, Kıbrıs newspaper is a common value embraced by the Turkish Cypriot people.
“On the occasion of Kıbrıs Newspaper’s 32nd anniversary, I sincerely congratulate all the hardworking contributors.
“I appreciate the important services you have provided to the Turkish Cypriot press, our democracy and in
being a voice for our country over the years.
“With these attitudes, it is my greatest wish that the Kıbrıs Media Group will successfully continue its work in the future. Once again, I wholeheartedly congratulate the Kıbrıs family.”
Tourism and Environment Minister and Democrat Party chairman Fikri Ataoğlu said: “Since its establishment, Kıbrıs Newspaper has successfully maintained reliable, accurate and impartial publishing and has accepted the people’s freedom of the press as their greatest responsibility to the nation, appealing to large segments of society and earning a very respectable place with the Turkish Cypriots.
“Congratulations on your 32nd anniversary, I wish you and your staff continued success.”
Girne Mayor Nidai Güngördü said: “Press and media organisations are essential institutions of advanced democracies. Not only are they the eyes, ears and voice of society, at the same time they are important non-governmental organisations that act as a bridge between the state and society.
“I sincerely congratulate Kıbrıs Newspaper, which has gained a forceful and respected place in the press world with its principled publishing since its establishment, on its 32nd publication anniversary.
“I would like to wish all the employees of the newspaper many more years of success.”
Cyprus Turkish Journalists Association president Reşat Akar, addressing Mr Nadir, said: “I sincerely congratulate Kıbrıs Newspaper, which brought the latest printing technology to our country and took the first step in publishing colourful and rich daily newspapers, on its 32nd anniversary.
“As a successful businessman who has invested heavily in the TRNC to break the embargoes, your investments in the media are also highly appreciated.
“I send my love and respect to you and to all the staff of Kıbrıs Newspaper and wish you many more years to come in publishing.”
