Kyper­ounda reaps lo­cal awards

Kyper­ounda Win­ery, owned and dis­trib­uted by the Pho­ti­ades Group, has reaped the awards at the re­cently re­vived wine awards, fol­low­ing last year’s lull and the wind­ing down of the Cyprus Vine Coun­cil, whose op­er­a­tions have since been ab­sorbed by the Min­istry of Agri­cul­ture.

The awards were or­gan­ised by Li­mas­sol Mu­nic­i­pal­ity that, in the ab­sence of any other or­gan­iser, was found to host the event at the Panos Solomonides Cul­tural Cen­tre. Co-hosts were the winer­ies them­selves, through their own as­so­ci­a­tion, held in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Or­gan­i­sa­tion In­ter­na­tionale de la Vigne et du Vin – O.I.V.

Kyper­ounda’s 2013 Chardon­nay won the Grand Gold Medal, hav­ing racked up the high­est score from among the 100 wines sub­mit­ted by 26 mem­ber winer­ies and judged by a panel of 7 people.

Kyper­ounda also won two more gold medals and three sil­vers for its re­main­ing wines, for a tally of six awards. These were:
