An­nual un­em­ploy­ment recorded a year-on-year drop of 2.7% in July com­pared to the same month last year, ac­cord­ing to data re­leased by the Sta­tis­ti­cal Ser­vice Cy­s­tat.

At the end of July there were 46,727 peo­ple reg­is­tered un­em­ployed with District Labour Of­fices.

Based on sea­son­ally ad­justed data which show the trend of un­em­ploy­ment, the num­ber of reg­is­tered un­em­ployed for July stood at 47,891 com­pared to 47,492 in June.

Com­pared to July 2013, un­em­ploy­ment fell by 1,274 per­sons or 2.7% mainly in trade (a drop of 1,500), con­struc­tion (a drop of 1,179), ed­u­ca­tion (a drop of 826), man­u­fac­tur­ing (a drop of 497) and pro­fes­sional, sci­en­tific and tech­ni­cal ac­tiv­i­ties (a drop of 372).

Dur­ing the same pe­riod, un­em­ploy­ment rose in fi­nan­cial and in­sur­ance ac­tiv­i­ties (up by 1,011), pub­lic ad­min­is­tra­tion (up 595) and new­com­ers in the labour mar­ket (up 1,238).
