New board for AIPFE Cyprus

The Cyprus Chap­ter of the In­ter­na­tional As­so­ci­a­tion for the Pro­mo­tion of Women of Europe (AIPFE) has elected its new board for the term 2015-2018 with the fol­low­ing mem­bers: Anna Koukkides-Pro­co­piou, Pres­i­dent; Despina Pa­padopoulou, Vice Pres­i­dent; Chryso An­geli, Trea­surer; Mar­i­anna Char­alam­bous, Sec­re­tary; Evan­thia Koro­nis, As­sis­tant Sec­re­tary; Le­fki Pan­teli, Gen­der Ex­pert; Thalia Ia­covou, Com­mu­ni­ca­tions Of­fi­cer; Mahi Solo­mou, Press Of­fi­cer; Myria Avraami­dou and Ge­or­gia Neophytou, mem­bers. Antigoni Athieni­tis and Soula Zavou re­main Hon­ourary Pres­i­dents. Anna Koukkides-Pro­co­piou’s mes­sage upon her re-elec­tion as Pres­i­dent fo­cused on the theme ‘To­gether, the same mes­sage’.

“I have al­ways noted that peo­ple may ig­nore your opin­ion, but they can never ig­nore your achieve­ments. So, let’s go out and achieve, and em­power, as many other women do the same,” she said.

Koukkides-Pro­co­piou re­ferred to two Euro­pean-funded projects which the As­so­ci­a­tion is in­volved with, stress­ing the im­por­tance of women’s em­pow­er­ment in AIPFE-Cyprus’ vi­sion: “Women Fit 4 Busi­ness”, which aims to pro­vide soft skills through train­ing, in­tern­ships and men­tor­ing to young un­em­ployed fe­male univer­sity grad­u­ates, and “Gen­der Di­ver­sity in De­ci­sion-Mak­ing Po­si­tions”, fo­cus­ing on map­ping the lo­cal labour mar­ket in each part­ner coun­try for train­ing and the cre­ation of a good prac­tices man­ual.
