No threat to off­shores, Cyprus dithers on tourism

The Euro­pean Com­mis­sion’s diplo­mat in Cyprus re­as­sured the busi­ness com­mu­nity that the ap­pli­ca­tion to join the EU poses no threat to the off­shore sec­tor, while in tourism, of­fi­cials were drag­ging their feet on in­cen­tives to lure Bri­tish tourists as Malta said it would sub­sidise its ex­change rate, ac­cord­ing to the is­sue 136, on Novem­ber 15, 1995.
