Anas­tasi­ades, El-Sisi to brief each other on re­gional is­sues

Pres­i­dent Ni­cos Anas­tasi­ades and his Egyp­tian coun­ter­part, Ab­del Fat­tah el-Sisi, have agreed to re­main in reg­u­lar con­tact on is­sues of re­gional co­op­er­a­tion af­ter a long tele­phone con­ver­sa­tion they had on Tues­day af­ter­noon.

Gov­ern­ment spokesman Nikos Christodoulides said Pres­i­dent Anas­tasi­ades ex­pressed his re­gret for the re­cent tragic event in the Si­nai Penin­sula and briefed his Egyp­tian coun­ter­part on the con­tent and the re­sults of his re­cent meet­ings in Jor­dan, Is­rael and Pales­tine.

The two lead­ers said that com­mon prob­lems and chal­lenges can be ad­dressed more suc­cess­fully through co­op­er­a­tion of the states in the re­gion, for the ben­e­fit of the peo­ple.

At the same time, Anas­tasi­ades and Pres­i­dent elSisi ex­changed views on bi­lat­eral is­sues, with spe­cial em­pha­sis on the en­ergy sec­tor and other is­sues of com­mon in­ter­est.
