Man­ag­ing stress dis­cussed at Euro­pean Healthy Work­places Sum­mit

Upon the com­ple­tion of this year’s Euro­pean Week for Safety and Health at Work, Cyprus ac­tively par­tic­i­pated at the Euro­pean Sum­mit in Bil­bao, Spain, where on Novem­ber 3 and 4, the cam­paign events were con­cluded.

At the Euro­pean Sum­mit in Bil­bao, Cyprus was rep­re­sented by of­fi­cials from the Labour In­spec­tion Depart­ment of the Min­istry of Labour, Wel­fare, and So­cial In­sur­ance, as well as by rep­re­sen­ta­tives of the Pan­cyprian Coun­cil for Safety and Health and rep­re­sen­ta­tives of So­cial Part­ners.

The Sum­mit fo­cused on man­ag­ing stress and psy­choso­cial risks in the work­place, while rep­re­sen­ta­tives from dif­fer­ent Euro­pean mem­ber states pre­sented good prac­tices in this area. Par­tic­i­pants had the op­por­tu­nity to ex­change ideas re­gard­ing strate­gies and pro­grammes for the man­age­ment of work-re­lated stress and psy­choso­cial risks, and they also dis­cussed how rel­e­vant re­search ev­i­dence can be put into prac­tice.

In Cyprus, within the frame­work of this year’s Euro­pean Week for Safety and Health at Work which took place on Oc­to­ber 19-23, of­fi­cers of the Labour In­spec­tion Depart­ment im­ple­mented a spe­cial pro­gramme that in­cludes on­site vis­its to work­places, par­tic­i­pa­tion in meet­ings of Safety Com­mit­tees, dis­cus­sion with employees and dis­tri­bu­tion of in­for­ma­tion ma­te­rial. In­for­ma­tion was also dis­sem­i­nated through ra­dio and tele­vi­sion chan­nels.
