243 mln for new Ru­ral De­vel­op­ment plan

Agri­cul­ture, Nat­u­ral Re­sources and the En­vi­ron­ment Min­is­ter Ni­cos Kouyialis said that dur­ing dif­fi­cult eco­nomic con­di­tions, with proper fi­nan­cial man­age­ment, the ab­sorp­tion of EU funds to Cyprus has in­creased from 50% to 85% in the pe­riod 2007-2013, with more than 282 mln eu­ros chan­nelled into the pre­vi­ous Ru­ral De­vel­op­ment Pro­gramme which was com­pleted at the end of 2015.

He said dur­ing the of­fi­cial launch of the cam­paign for the new Ru­ral De­vel­op­ment Pro­gramme 2014-2020 that through this plan the sec­ond pil­lar of the EU’s Com­mon Agri­cul­tural Pol­icy is be­ing im­ple­mented in Cyprus which aims to de­velop the pri­mary pro­duc­tion sec­tor and the ru­ral ar­eas.
