The SFM Group will launch the World In­vest­ment Op­por­tu­ni­ties Funds (WIOF) in Cyprus this week, a fund of funds with EUR 100 mln un­der man­age­ment. The fund spe­cialises in Cen­tral and East­ern Europe and is the first Lux­em­bourg-domi­ciled in­vest­ment fund (SICAV) in­vest­ing in the Cyprus eq­uity mar­ket that in­cludes as one of its sub-funds the Laiki-EDAK As­set Man­age­ment Greece-Cyprus Op­por­tu­ni­ties Fund man­aged by Mar­ios Deme­tri­ades. note: the present-day Trans­port Min­is­ter).

Greeks and Greek Cypri­ots are the heav­i­est smok­ers in Europe, with the first ac­count­ing for an av­er­age of 23.2 cig­a­rettes per day and the is­lan­ders light­ing up 21.3 cigs. This com­pares with the EU25 av­er­age of 16.9, while the Turk­ish Cypri­ots smoke 18.8 per day, ac­cord­ing to Health Com­mis­sioner Markos Kypri­anou, speak­ing ahead of World No To­bacco Day (May 31).

Op­po­si­tion leader Ni­cos Anas­tasi­ades can­not get elected with DISY only num­ber­ing 18 deputies.
