The SFM Group will launch the World Investment Opportunit­ies Funds (WIOF) in Cyprus this week, a fund of funds with EUR 100 mln under management. The fund specialise­s in Central and Eastern Europe and is the first Luxembourg-domiciled investment fund (SICAV) investing in the Cyprus equity market that includes as one of its sub-funds the Laiki-EDAK Asset Management Greece-Cyprus Opportunit­ies Fund managed by Marios Demetriade­s. note: the present-day Transport Minister).

Greeks and Greek Cypriots are the heaviest smokers in Europe, with the first accounting for an average of 23.2 cigarettes per day and the islanders lighting up 21.3 cigs. This compares with the EU25 average of 16.9, while the Turkish Cypriots smoke 18.8 per day, according to Health Commission­er Markos Kyprianou, speaking ahead of World No Tobacco Day (May 31).

Opposition leader Nicos Anastasiad­es cannot get elected with DISY only numbering 18 deputies.
