Hellenic Bank launches PayBand for fast and easy payments
Hellenic Bank has launched the PayBand, an innovative product which enables its owner to complete contactless payments quickly and easily, without the use of a wallet. PayBand is the result of a collaboration between Hellenic Bank, Visa and Gemalto. It is a wearable, contactless card which can be connected to any Hellenic Bank Visa debit or credit card. PayBand is widely accepted in Cyprus and abroad at all contactless terminals (POS).
George Karageorgis, Hellenic Bank Group General Manager, Retail Division, noted the reasons which led the bank to proceed in taking this important step: “In this new digital era, consumers’ needs, desires and preferences – especially those of young consumers – are constantly evolving as they are affected by the rapid evolution of technology. That is why we, in response to market needs, have set as our primary target the creation of new innovative and competitive products which follow international technological developments, international market trends and the standards set by international organisations.”
“PayBand will be the catalyst for further innovation in the field of Hellenic Bank payments, replacing the use of cash in the Cypriot market,” stated Andriana Pappa, Visa Europe Cyprus Country Manager.
Nicholas Nikola, Gemalto Sales Manager for Central and Southeast Europe, congratulated Hellenic Bank, which is the sixth bank in Europe and the first in Cyprus to adopt this innovative payment method.
During the event, in a specially-designed space of the Ayios Antonios Municipal Market where the presentation took place, guests were each given a PayBand. They wore them and were subsequently able to use them for on-site ‘purchases’, thus experiencing a unique and pleasant new method of payment which fundamentally changes the way that daily shopping was done until now.
PayBand is already available for existing and new customers, at all Hellenic Bank branches. More information is available at branches, through the Service Line (8000 9999) or on the Hellenic Bank website.
