1.65 bln in first four months

The trade deficit widened in the first four months of the year as imports increased, while exports recorded a drop, the Statistica­l Service Cystat said.

According to the data the trade deficit in the January - April period reached EUR 1.65 bln compared to EUR 0.72 bln in the same period of 2016.

Total goods imports in the first four months of this year were of a value of EUR 2,418.2 mln, compared to EUR 1,778.2 mln at the same period of last year.

During the same period of this year total goods exports came to EUR 761.5 mln compared to EUR 1,042.6 mln in the first four months of 2016.

For the January - April period, total exports of locally produced products, with the exception of vessels’ and airplanes’ provisions came to EUR 389.7 mln compared to EUR 292.2 mln at the same period of the previous year.

During the same period of 2017 total local exports of industrial goods came to EUR 346.4 mln compared to EUR 241.8 mln in January - April 2016.

Total local exports of agricultur­al products in the first four months of this year came to EUR 40.9 mln compared to EUR 46.6 mln at the same period of last year.
