If you go down to the beach today there will be a big surprise – especially if you fancy a burger and frappé in Limassol, it will set you back EUR 23.50.

According to a price survey on beachside establishments published by the Cyprus Tourism Organisation, there are extreme price differences on selected food and beverages. On average, Limassol is the most expensive place to dine at the beach but prices vary as range of restaurants, hotels and beach bars are included.

The most expensive burgers, frappés and bottles of water can be found along the Limassol coast while cheaper prices can be experienced on the other side of the island in Ayia Napa and Larnaca.

If you fancy a burger and chips by the beach, the cheapest on offer is EUR 5 at the Sunshine Rest in Sotira, Famagusta district, while the most expensive is EUR 17 at the Lighthouse in Yermasoyia, Limassol.

Frappé – the island’s popular iced coffee drink – will cost a whopping EUR 6.50 at Limassol’s Four Seasons Hotel while the cheapest can be found not far away from there at La Croissanterie, situated in the old port area, costing EUR 1.90.

And quenching that thirst during a heatwave can also prove costly if in Limassol – a 50ml bottle at Breeze No3 is an eye-watering EUR 4 – a huge markup from the EUR 0.50 charged by the Golden Coast in Paralimni.

To purchase a 100ml bottle of water, Breeze No3 in Yermasoyia again tops the most expensive list at EUR 7, while the cheapest around is EUR 1.50.

The cheapest local beer (330ml) was priced at EUR 2 at several outlets, while the dearest was EUR 8 at Breeze No3.

The CTO’s price monitoring survey of 151 establishments covers bottled water (50ml and 1 litre), orange juice, frappé, Cyprus coffee, soft drinks, local beer and a burger with or without fries.

Buying an orange juice will cost you a wallet-denting EUR 6.50 at the Four Seasons, but this is freshly squeezed and 330ml, while at the other end of the spectrum it can be bought for EUR 1.10 (250ml) at KFC Tavernaki in the Limassol marina area.
