Cobalt fares reach larger base in Galileo deal

-

Cyprus-based Cobalt is now offering its air fares on a wider platform through the Galileo

Global Distribution System, part of the extensive Travelport network.

Marking two years of scheduled operations, Cobalt has signed up to allow all its fares to be distributed through the GDS specialist, adding to its existing agreements with Amadeus and Sabre.

Featuring on the three major GDS platforms will see the airline’s flights from Larnaca, including its year-round services to London Heathrow and Gatwick and three-times weekly to Athens, gain exposure among travel agents.

Cobalt’s director of corporate affairs Philokypros Roussounides said: “Galileo is an important part of our distribution activity in Europe and the Middle East and will serve us well as we widen interline agreements with other carriers, as we currently enjoy with Etihad Airways for Abu Dhabi.”

As well as airline reservations, Galileo can be used to book train travel, car rental and hotel rooms. Galileo is a member of IATA, the Open Travel Alliance and SITA.

The Cypriot company was recognised as the Best Start-up airline of the Year in the world 2017 by CAPA – The Centre for Aviation.

Extending its reach in the Middle East, Cobalt Air signed an interline agreement in June with global carrier, Etihad Airways, and its inflight experience was recently enhanced by the introduction of Bluebox WOW IFE on all aircraft.

Cobalt currently serves 21 destinations and 12 countries from its base in Cyprus.
