Public projects worth to kick-off in autumn

Twelve projects worth a total of EUR 22 mln are scheduled to start in October and November, the Public Works Department announced.

According to data obtained by news portal Stockwatch, the most expensive project will be the Pneumologi­cal Clinic of the Kyperounta Hospital (EUR 4.8 mln), followed by the road connecting the centre of Yeroskipou with the tourist area (EUR 3.5 mln) and a fire station at Vasiliko-Energy Centre (EUR 3.5 mln).

Other projects include the constructi­on of a section of the 1st April Avenue in Paralimni, the enlargemen­t and improvemen­t of the Makarios Avenue in Ypsonas (EUR 2.1 mln) and the maintenanc­e of motorways in the Nicosia District (EUR 1.5 mln).

Meanwhile, projects such as the upgrading of the emergency ward at Kyperounta Hospital, the constructi­on of a road section that connects Paphos airport with the coastal road and the western expansion of the Parliament building are underway.

According to the director of the department, Chrystalla Malloupa, 61 projects worth EUR 145 mln have already been completed, while 32 projects worth EUR 153 mln are currently underway.

Ongoing projects include the works on the road leading to the Limassol port (EUR 17.4 mln), Aglantzia Avenue (EUR 16 mln), the renovation of the municipal theatre of Nicosia (Eur 10.3 mln) and of the Famagusta District Court (EUR 6 mln).

As Malloupa noted, another 26 projects worth EUR 350 mln are to be proclaimed towards the end of the year.
