Mubarak-era min­is­ter Habib El-Adly es­capes: Min­istry of In­te­rior

Cairo Crim­i­nal Court re­jected on Monday an ap­peal filed by El-Adly on the ad­ju­di­ca­tion

Egypt’s Min­istry of In­te­rior an­nounced on Monday that the Mubarak­era for­mer min­is­ter of in­te­rior Habib El-Adly has es­caped and is not in his house in 6th of Oc­to­ber City, ac­cord­ing to state-owned me­dia.

El-Adly and oth­ers were ac­cused of em­bez­zling money from the min­istry, and he was sen­tenced to seven years in prison.

Re­cently, the Cen­tral Cairo Pros­e­cu­tion as­signed the Min­istry of In­te­rior to ar­rest El-Adly in or­der to im­ple­ment the ad­ju­di­ca­tion or­dered by the Cairo Crim­i­nal Court.

More­over, the Cairo Crim­i­nal Court has re­jected the ap­peal filed by El-Adly on the ad­ju­di­ca­tion.

El-Adly was the min­is­ter of in­te­rior dur­ing the regime of for­mer pres­i­dent Hosni Mubarak and was sen­tenced to seven years of hard labour and to re­turn a sum of EGP 196 mil­lion from the money he had em­bez­zled, and a sim­i­lar amount as a fine.
