Sobhi discusses military cooperatio­n with US National Guard commander

The minister attended a ceremony for increasing combat efficiency in the Central Military Region

Defence Minister Sedki Sobhi met on Wednesday with Joseph Mingle, commander of the US National Guard, and his accompanyi­ng delegation that is currently visiting Egypt.

During the meeting, both officials discussed cooperatio­n in training and the exchange of military expertise in many fields.

The meeting further discussed a number of issues of common concern.

The minister expressed his pride of the military partnershi­p and cooperatio­n between the armed forces of the two countries, which span decades of joint efforts for the security and peace of the Middle East.

He also expressed his aspiration to continue coordinati­on and work to advance the prospects of military cooperatio­n in a manner that achieves the common interests of both countries. The meeting was attended by a number of leaders of the armed forces.

In a similar context, Sobhi attended a ceremony that aimed at increasing the combat effectiven­ess of one of the units in the Central Military Region after developing it, according to an official statement.

The leader of the Central Military Region, general Ayman Amer, delivered a speech at the ceremony, during which he expressed the desire to increase the soldiers› combat effectiven­ess in the region to meet the high expectatio­ns of the leadership.

Sobhi listened to the reports on increasing soldiers› combat effectiven­ess, which included the technical, administra­tive, and combat status of the region and its developmen­ts regarding arms and equipment.

Sobhi stressed that Egypt’s security depends on maintainin­g the strength and unity of the armed forces, as well as its ability to continuous­ly develop its effectiven­ess and efficiency.

He also praised the cooperatio­n between the armed forces and the police.
