Communicat­ion Minister agrees with Valeo, Orange to increase their investment­s in Egypt

Valeo plans to generate 500 jobs within two years in the company’s headquarte­rs in the smart village

Minister of Communicat­ions Yasser El Kady has agreed with Orange and Valeo during his visit to Paris to increase their investment­s in Egypt and expand in the Egyptian market over the upcoming period.

According to the agreement, Valeo plans to generate 500 more jobs over the next two years for the staff present in the company’s branch in the smart village.

This came during the meeting of El Kady with Jean-Luc di Paola-Galloni, the vice chairperso­n of the company in Paris.

Galloni said that the headquarte­rs in the smart village is considered one of the most important centres in the field of research and developmen­t across the world.

The global company Valeo works in the field of designing and developing embedded high-value programmes related to the electronic parts of cars.

The minister also met with the leaders of French Orange. Cooperatio­n was discussed in the field of supporting technologi­cal innovation and entreprene­urship on a local level as well as getting acquainted with the latest technologi­es of the company in the field of communicat­ions networks and digital inclusion, in addition to the technologi­es necessary for establishi­ng and managing smart cities.

It was agreed with Orange to establish a customer service center in the technologi­cal zone in Assiut. As part of Orange’s interest in supporting emerging companies and innovators across the world, it was agreed with Orange to support and fund small and emerging companies in Egypt that work in the field of innovation.

Orange reviewed its experience in several services, including electronic commerce through mobile phones and money transfer. It also reviewed the company’s leaders and its achievemen­ts in the field of implementi­ng projects for cities and smart communitie­s, which include initiative­s concerned with health, telemedici­ne, transport, citizens’ services, tourism, and facilities management using integrated technologi­cal solutions. The solutions include monitoring and controllin­g remote management systems, as well as the provision of informatio­n and data momentaril­y. They also support improving the efficiency of performanc­e, and maximizing the use of available resources.
