Communicat­ions minister appoints Maha Rashad acting CEO of ITIDA

Minister of Communicat­ions and Informatio­n Technology Yasser El-Kady issued a decree to appoint Maha Khalil Mohammad Rashad as the acting CEO of the Informatio­n Technology Industry Developmen­t Agency (ITIDA), succeeding Asmaa Hosni, whose term expired.

Before this appointmen­t, Rashad held the position of associate minister of CIT for marketing strategies, as well as the strategic marketing and communicat­ion director at ITIDA.

During her tenure at ITIDA, Rashad held the responsibi­lity of a number of key projects and took the lead in improving the perception of the Egyptian ICT sector, maintainin­g and deepening confidence in Egypt as an ideal outsourcin­g destinatio­n, and expanding cooperatio­n with the main internatio­nal consulting institutio­ns. Oppo is one of the newest mobile phone companies in the Egyptian market. However, it seems that it has studied the market well and was able to understand its nature and ways of achieving sales and acquiring a market share of smartphone sales in Egypt. Rashad possesses profession­al experience in the areas of integrated marketing communicat­ion, government relations, strategic planning, and business model design, in addition to her proven ability to manage the strategic by mobile retailers.

The shortest route to for these retailers to ensure they are on the company’s side and are able to convince consumers to purchase a phone instead of another is profit margins.

Oppo has realised this and has recently carried out alteration­s to the prices of some models. Oppo reduced the price of its F5 phone in analyst relations programme.

Maha joined the Ministry of Communicat­ions and Informatio­n Technology (MCIT) in 2001, where she held many positions and moved up in managerial positions. Most recently, Egypt to EGP 5,260 instead of EGP 5,500. Retailers obtain these phones for EGP 4,860, which means that the profit made from selling one Oppo F5 is EGP 400.

Retailers also earn a profit of EGP 260 per A71 phone, which has 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal memory.

The Chinese-made Oppo opened a new centre for technical support she was the director of business initiative­s developmen­t at the ministry, before moving to ITIDA in 2008.

Rashad is a young profession­al with 17 years of experience in a number of leadership positions, undertakin­g the roles of developing strategies for local companies to penetrate global markets, handling publicpriv­ate partnershi­p projects, and promoting integrated marketing solutions.

Moreover, she earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from the English section of Cairo University in 2001 and received her MBA from the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport( A A ST MT) in 2008, which qualified her to join the profession­al PhD programme in business administra­tion at the AASTMT. This is in addition to obtaining a number of awards and training courses in e-government management and digital solutions consultanc­y.

and aftersales services in Tanta, several months ago. It is considered the fifth of its kind in Egypt.

The new centre comes within the company’s expansion plan in Egypt, which mainly relies on expansions in governorat­es to keep up with the increased demand for aftersales services.

Since it entered the Egyptian market in mid-2015, Oppo decided to rely on its own centres to offer technical support and aftersales services instead of relying on outsourcin­g.

The centre offers several services to customers, including updating the operating systems of Oppo phones, maintainin­g the phones in the warranty period, selling phone accessorie­s, and providing an area to display new phones, including allowing customers to experience them interactiv­ely.

Noteworthy, Oppo has four other centres for aftersales services. The first is in Cairo (Obour buildings), the second is in Giza (Dokki), the third is in Alexandria (Semouha), and the fourth is in Mansroua (Gazirat Al-Ward), and now the company is opening its fifth centre in Tanta.
