Al-Sisi to focus on enhancing transporta­tion cooperatio­n with Russia, says Arafat

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi will focus on enhancing cooperatio­n between Egypt and Russia in the field of transporta­tion during his upcoming visit to Russia on 17 October, announced the Minister of Transporta­tion Hesham Arafat during his interview with Russia Today.

“The contract between Egypt and the Russian-Hungarian alliance for the production of 1,300 trains has been completed at a cost of €1bn– a dream come true for us,” Arafat declared, adding that the Russian company participat­ing in the consortium is one of the biggest train manufactur­ers in the world.

During his visit,Al-Sisi is scheduled to meet with his Russian counter part Vladimir Put into discuss bilateral relations.

The two leaders have exchanged several official visits.Al-Sisi last visited Russia in 2015, while President Putin’s last visit to Egypt took place in December 2017, resulting in remarkable developmen­ts in economic relations between Egypt and Russia.

Over recent years, both countries have signed several agreements in different fields, including the gas and investment sectors.

Last week, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry asserted that the upcoming visit will open new horizons for cooperativ­e relations between the two countries in all fields.
