The 6th of October day of 1973 has not only represented an impressive military victory achieved by the Egyptian army, but a unique expression of a nation’s will and the tenacity of the people, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi said on Sunday.

In a speech commemorating the 46th anniversary of the 6th of October War, Al-Sisi said that Egypt is celebrating one of its greatest and glorious days, the day in which Egyptians crossed the line between despair and hope, the past and future.

However, Al-Sisi stated that the forms of wars have changed over the years, including that which targets the morale of the peoples through the use of new means of communication and media.

This war, Al-Sisi explained, aims to destroy the trust between citizens and their national institutions and to arouse suspicion and confusion among people.

The President continued that such a war intends to view the state as the enemy for its people, depending on rumours, lies, and deception.

However, Al-Sisi voiced his confidence that Egyptians realise this war and its aims well, a dding that the people are already fed up of deceptions.

Moreover, Al-Sisi offered respect and appreciation to the late President Anwar Sadat who led the sixth of October war, pointing out that Sadat carried a heavy responsibility and deserved his people’s trust. AlSisi also praised Sadat, describing him as a national brilliant leader.

The President pledged that the children and grandchildren of Egyptian martyrs are determined to continue their path and to maintain their free homeland.

Whatever the forms of wars the country continues to face, Egypt will remain the undefeated homeland, AlSisi concluded.

The sixth of October is one of Egypt’s most significant dates as the country celebrates every year its victory over Israel and the crossing of the Suez Canal which was occupied by force in1967.
