“If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music or Shakespeare wrote poetry.” A statement said by Martin Luther King Jr. These are words shared by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Mankayane municipality in preparation for the forthcoming 56th King’s Birthday celebrations on Friday.
The Ministry in collaboration with the municipality, has called on the community on a cleanup campaign.
In a statement shared by the Ministry, stakeholders and residents of Mankayane and its surrounding areas are cordially invited to participate in the initiative which is scheduled for the 17th of April 2024, commencing at 08:30 hours from the Mabovini waiting room.
The Ministry said the primary objective of this campaign is to rally the local community to ensure that Mankayane town exudes cleanliness and warmth to welcome the royalty, guests and tourists who are expected to grace the auspicious occasion.
Further, the Ministry of Home Affairs shares that it advocates for similar campaigns across the Kingdom.
“With visitors and dignitaries converging on various parts of the nation, it is paramount that all areas epitomize cleanliness to showcase Eswatini’s commitment to environmental stewardship,” reads the statement.
