Fashion designer Mbali passes on

THE vengeful hands of death have once again snatched away a gem in the entertainm­ent industry and the world of fashion and design has been cast into shadow with the passing of Mbali Kunene-Shongwe, the visionary founder of Monte Couture.

Her family confirmed the heartbreak­ing news of her peaceful passing in her sleep at the hospital on Sunday, April 14, 2024.

In a statement released by her grieving family, they shared, “It is with great sadness that the Shongwe and Kunene families wish to inform family, friends, colleagues, acquaintan­ces, and the fashion industry at large of the passing of our beloved Mbali Shongwe. Mbali passed away peacefully in the hospital on Sunday, April 14, 2024.”

“May God receive her soul in His glory. The family is deeply saddened by the loss of our dearest Mbali and requests time to process this great loss.”
