No affiliation, MRPA postpones SGM, Dixie’s League kick-off
THE Dixie’s International E40 000 Pool League kick-off is on hold.
The league was scheduled to resume its new season under the sixth edition this weekend. However, not one of the 14 teams they had in the previous edition managed to affiliate.
This also resulted in the postponement of the association’s Special General Meeting (SGM) last Saturday.
“Our Special General Meeting has been postponed to this weekend on Saturday, and it will still be held in Malkerns at St. John Bosco Primary School. We had to defer it since no team paid the affiliation fee of E1 000 (returning clubs) and E1 200 for new teams), and the meeting was on the same day with an ongoing tournament in Manzini”.
All clubs were expected to have fully paid the affiliation by close of business last Friday.
. . .Chairmanship elections stalled
It was not only the league kick-off that got disrupted by the postponement of the Manzini Regional Pool Association (MRPA) but also the Chairmanship elections.
MRPA has no leader at the moment following the election of their then chairman, Menzi Bhembe, into the national pool mother body, Eswatini Cue Sports Association (ECSA) as treasurer, a while ago.
MRPA nominated three candidates during their annual general meeting (AGM) towards the end of last month. These are Ludzeludze Pool Club’s Mhlaba ‘Chester’ Dlamini, Way Inn Pool Club management member Bongizipho Dlamini, and Ludzeludze 1 Manager Mxolisi Mthembu.
Clubs also nominated one member to fill a void in the MRPA executive. The nominee was Sifiso Masuku, former Moneni Pirates Public Relations Officer (PRO) in the local elite football space.
He will go to the polls unchallenged this Saturday. Meanwhile, the MRPA Secretary Musa Dlamini affirmed the latest and encouraged clubs to pay the affiliation fees and ensure representation in the SGM.
