MTN Bushfire unveils Firefly Top 10 finalists
MTN Bushfire has announced the much-anticipated Firefly Top 10 finalists, marking the beginning of a thrilling musical journey for talented up-and-coming artists.
Notably, the Top 10 contestants will deliver a sizzling hot performance at the MTN Bushfire Firefly Finale at House On Fire on April 26, 2024, alongside South African musician Focalistic and local DJ, Wassabee.
The competition, known for its commitment to nurturing young talent, is set to showcase the best of the best at the upcoming MTN Bushfire Festival, scheduled to take place from May 30 to June 2, 2024. This year’s theme, #YoungGiftedFree, celebrates the trailblazers who dare to dream big and hustle hard. The MTN Bushfire Firefly initiative provides a unique platform for youth to unleash their creativity and share their musical talents with the world, embodying the festival’s ethos of empowerment and self-expression.
Since its inception in 2017, MTN Bushfire Firefly has been a beacon of hope for emerging artists, embodying the festival’s mission to ignite positive social and environmental change through the arts. The competition has become a cornerstone of arts development in Eswatini, providing a vital platform for young musicians to showcase their skills and connect with a wider audience.
With a strong track record of discovering and promoting talent, the competition has empowered over 100 aspiring artists, many of whom have gone on to make a mark in Eswatini’s vibrant music scene. Each year, 20 artists are selected to participate in the competition, with the top 10 advancing to the live Grand Finale event on April 26, 2024.
The finalists will have the opportunity to perform for a live audience and compete for exciting prizes, career opportunities, and the ultimate grand prize of a performance slot at the prestigious MTN Bushfire Festival. The adjudication process combines expert industry judges with public online voting, ensuring a fair and transparent selection of the winners.
To support the contestants, MTN Bushfire has introduced personalized MTN Pulse data bundles for streaming and voting convenience, making it easier for fans to show their support. The voting process will take place on the AYOBA app, offering a userfriendly platform for fans to engage and participate in the competition.
In addition to the performance opportunities, the Top 20 artists will benefit from international music promotion, networking opportunities with global stakeholders, and the chance to have their music featured on MTN CallerTunes.
The Top 10 finalists will receive expense stipends and branded merchandise, while the Top 3 winners will be awarded mobile phones sponsored by MTN Eswatini and a coveted performance slot at the MTN Bushfire Festival. As the countdown to the Firefly Top 20 Grand Finale begins, the stage is set for a showcase of raw talent, creativity, and passion.
