Sihlangu coaches’ contracts headaches to be resolved in two weeks time
THE ongoing Sihlangu coach’s contractual headache is set to be resolved within the next fortnight.
The current situation has grounded the senior national team’s preparations for the next 2026 FIFA World Cup against Angola and Mauritius set for June.
The squad was supposed to kickstart its preparations for the next qualifiers with its two days of training sessions on Mondays and Tuesdays at the EFA Technical Centre in Lobamba.
Kunene’s one-year contract came to an end on March 31, 2024.
Mavuso and Ntibane recently joined the squad on two-month contracts before the 2025 AFCON preliminary qualifier against Somalia.
A source close to the matter revealed that the technical Committee is finalising the matter with the organisation’s President Peter ‘Samora’ Simelane.
“The issues of the coach’s contracts will be resolved within the next fourth night as soon as the Technical committee conclude its discussion with the President,” the source said.
Eswatini Football Association Marketing and Communications Officer Muzi Radebe said they were still working on the logistics of the senior national team.
“We are currently working on issues of the senior national team including the coach’s contracts and reports from the previous match,” Radebe said.
The senior national team will face Angola and Mauritius in their next Group D matches of the global showpiece qualifiers.
Sihlangu is currently rooted at the bottom of Group D following their opening two losses to Libya and Cape Verde.
The national team will also take on African giants Cameroon in their next group match for the global showpiece qualifiers.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup world cup finals will be jointly hosted by the United States of America (USA), Canada and Mexico.
