This was during the late Motsa memorial service held on Friday in Manzini following her shocking demise on March 16, 2024. The late Motsa was knocked down by a truck while jogging at Manzana along the Mbabane–Manzini Highway.

“Today, we gather here with heavy hearts to remember and honour a remarkable individual who has left an indelible mark on our lives and the sporting landscape in the Kingdom of Eswatini, cycling and running. We are here to pay tribute to our dear Treasurer, Shirley Kenny-Motsa, whose sudden and tragic departure has left us all in a state of profound sorrow and disbelief,” he said.

Nxumalo further stated that the late Motsa dedicated her love to the sport.

“Shirley was not just a dedicated member of our association; she was an exceptional human being who touched the lives of everyone she encountered. Her passion for cycling was unparalleled, and she worked tirelessly to promote the sport and support our athletes. As the Treasurer of the Eswatini Cycling Association, Shirley was instrumental in ensuring the financial stability and growth of our organization. Her commitment and unwavering dedication were an inspiration to us all,” he said.

The president also urged the entire cycling family to continue promoting the sport in honour of Motsa.

“Let us honour Shirley’s memory by continuing the work she was so passionate about, by striving to create a safer environment for all cyclists and pedestrians within our country. We must advocate for improved road safety measures and raise awareness about the importance of sharing the road responsibly. Shirley’s untimely passing serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of life and the need for us all to work together to prevent such tragedies from happening again,” Ndwandwe said.

He also extended condolences to the deceased family.

The late Motsa was also a member of the Golden Foot Athletics Club and a wife to Newcomm Wheels principal Mbusi Motsa. She will be laid to rest on Saturday morning at her marital homestead in Siteki.
