Stratification training for NMP personnel

-

The EMF has provided capacity building which the Fund says is essential for enhancing the effectiveness and sustainability of malaria control programs.

In such, the EMF allocated funding for stratification training for NMP personnel. Stratification training involves the classification or division of areas according to their malaria risk and specific characteristics.

This training equipped NMP personnel and partners with the knowledge and skills necessary to assess Malaria risk factors accurately, prioritize interventions, and allocate resources effectively. On top of that, the fund also offered support to the NMP by facilitating the procurement of antimalarial drugs worth E1 million.

With all the impeccable success stories, the EMF has further reported that Covid-19 pandemic had a strain on their operations. EMF states that the pandemic significantly challenged the

EMF’s efforts to raise targeted financial resources. It also highlights that many companies faced economic uncertainties and redirected their funding priorities, particularly toward initiatives addressing the immediate impacts of Covid-19. As a result, funding for corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs, including support for malaria elimination, was halted.

Advocacy

On the other hand, Covid-19 restrictions limited the EMF’s ability to conduct formal face-to-face presentations and engage with potential donors. EMF says these restrictions hindered the EMF’s traditional methods of advocacy and fundraising, further impacting its ability to mobilize resources during that time. Amidst those challenges, EMF states that they have continued to advocate for support and raise awareness about the importance of malaria elimination efforts.
