THE much-anticipated Premier League of Eswatini special meeting failed to take off on Saturday at Sigwaca House.

This comes after the Board of Governors failed to form a quorum forcing Chairman Mark Carmichael to reschedule the meeting to a future date to be revealed in due course.

Some of the issues that were supposed to be discussed during the meeting include the move to have a 16-team league proposal which was recently submitted before Chief Executive Officer Kenneth Makhanya’s office.

The executive committee was also expected to give an update on the future of Makhanya, whose contract will be coming to an end at the end of the current season. Carmichael lamented the postponement of the meeting.

“We have decided to push the meeting after we recorded poor attendance from Governors. This might be caused by limited resources as a majority of them are also attending the ongoing FIFA administration course which is also run by the Eswatini Football Association. We will look for another date for the meeting as there are quite a number of issues that need to be discussed,” he said.

As exclusively revealed by our sister newspaper, Eswatini Financial Times, Carmichael will also not run for the upcoming PLE meeting set to take place between May and July.

This will end the Denver Sundowns boss’s reign as the head of the elite football entity. He previously served as an executive member to the late Victor ‘Maradona’

Gamedze and Peter ‘Touch’ Magagula.

The PLE recently held by-elections for a vacant executive committee position which saw the election of Tambankulu Callies Sithembiso ‘Ngudze’ Mamba at Sigwaca

House.

Mamba recorded a landslide victory over Manzini Wanderers Governor Bongani ‘Bhanyaza’ Mdluli to replace former Tambuti *Chairman Rudolph Matsenjwa.

The current PLE exco comprises Carmichael, Polycarp Dlamini, Victor Rodriguez, Charles Matsebula, Juluka Gamedze, Sithembiso ‘Ngudze’ Mamba and Sibusiso ‘Scorpion’ Nxumalo.
