Government Confident of Nelson Mandela Cup success
THE government is confident of the country’s success during the 2024 Nelson Mandela Boxing Cup.
This was said by Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Bongani Nzima during the national team farewell Function held at Happy Valley Hotel on Saturday.
The inaugural continental championships are scheduled for Durban between April 1521,2024 at the International Convention Centre.
“We are confident that the team will make us proud during the Mandela Cup. We appeal for the support of supports Associations from local companies,” he said.
Meanwhile, Eswatini Boxing Association (EBA) President Webster Lukhele appreciated the support of the Government for the national team.

“We are grateful for the support that we have received from the Government through the Eswatini Sport and Recreation Council (ESRC). We also appreciate the support of local companies such as OK Foods, Dixie’s International and Cuddle Puddle for supporting the national team during the trip,” he said.
The national team will leave the country on Sunday morning.
Some of the countries that will attend the tournament include South Africa, Mozambique, Lesotho, Botswana, Zambia, and Malawi, to mention a few.
The team is under the guidance of four members technical which comprises Muzi Shongwe, Douglas Simelane, Maxwell Ngwenya and Mpendulo Mbingo.
The participating countries will be competing for the E9 million prize money recently announced by the International Boxing Association (IBA).
