Government calls for nondiscrimination in sports
THE Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini has called for nondiscrimination in sports.
This was revealed by Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dlamini during the Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association(eocga) Gender Equity workshop held at Happy Valley Hotel on Saturday.
Dladla was represented by the Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Bongani Nzima.
“We are calling for non-discrimination in sports for all members of the society. This includes women and people living with disabilities who should be given free opportunities within the various sectors,” Dladla said.
The Deputy Prime Minister further appealed to sports delegates to join the fight against gender-based violence. She further affirmed Government support towards sports development in the country.

“Let us all join hands in the fight against gender-based violence in the country. We are committed to ensuring that there is sports development in the country. We will continue to support sports and we urge local companies to enhance the development of sports by funding the various sporting associations,” the DPM said.
Meanwhile, Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) Vice President Mathlohang applauded the Government’s commitment to enhancing Gender equality in the country.
“We are pleased with the Eswatini Government to improve Gender equality in Eswatini. We are confident that the participants will now implement their expertise within the various associations,” she said.
EOCGA President Adam ‘Bomber’ Mthethwa thanked the participants for making the workshop a success.
“We are pleased that the event has been a success. We thank representatives from the various associations for making the event a success,” he said.
The event was also attended by South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) Chief Operations Officer Patience Sikhwambama and various representatives from local sports associations.
