USA, important to us - Ambassador Groening

-

M– Country representative to the United States of America (USA), Ambassador Kennedy Fitzgerald Groening says America was important to the Kingdom of Eswatini.

Groening told USA President Joe Biden that the country valued its relationship with the USA. He said the relationship was very important to Eswatini at this point of human history. Groening shared these sentiments during the credential ceremony at the White House President’s Office, The Oval, last week where he was accepted and welcomed to represent the Kingdom of Eswatini.

“It gives me great honour and pleasure, Mr. President, to serve the people of Eswatini at this juncture of human history. I take this role very seriously, proportionate to the trust bestowed by the Head of State and Ingwenyama and I will do everything I know, and within my power to keep to the highest integrity, the relations that happily exist between our two nations. The United States (US) is a very important partner to us and my tenure in Washington will be signified with doubled efforts to maintain and strengthen the collaboration that came with the advent of our independence in 1968,” said

Groening.

Ambassador Groening acknowledged that indeed having to come to Washington during a turbulent period for foreign relations, his job will not be without challenges. He said he was cognisence of the fact that the problems were surmountable and was going to an extra effort to achieve all the goals. “What remains of us is to re-assert the rules based international system that has been the hallmark for the longevity of nations living side by side in peace and harmony, thus assuring holistic development and prosperity.

vIRtues

The virtues and tenets of a progressive international order rest on the responsibility for each one of us to think about the generations that will succeed us, and the world that we inhabit today is not for us to squander,” he elaborated.

The ambassador further stated that the USA had an immense responsibility to hold Eswatini by hand as the country advances to new civilizations methods that were changing the world as it was known.

“Eswatini is committed to bring the collaboration we have to the next level. Our country has been able to overcome a social catastrophe, making inroads into limiting HIV deaths and other non-communicable diseases. The activities of USAID, PEPFAR, and other US development collaborators have changed the landscape in the health sector for the better.

@This taught our young adults new leadership skills and widened their horizons to think globally. The developmental initiatives by the US are too numerous to itemize and with this partnership, we are assured of a better future,” mentioned Groening.

Groening further pledged his availability and readiness to work tirelessly in advancing the interest of the relations that exist between the two countries, through the offices of the Secretary of State.

Ambassadors represent the government, or their country of origin, on behalf of the president or leader.

They are also known as diplomats, a more general term describing those that work in a foreign country while retaining citizenship in their home country.

The foreign country, known to ambassadors as the ‘host nation’, serves as their base. From this base, they promote international relations on certain areas of government, such as trade, military involvement, and cultural relationships.
