PIGG’S PEAK – A kind hearted neighbour ended up being a victim of the man she tried to help.

This is the story of *Jackie (19), who is said to have tried to provide her neighbour with some cooking oil. It is alleged that the neighbour, Machawe October (21), had asked for some cooking oil from Jackie.

October was arrested and charged for violating the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence (SODV) Act 15 of 2018. He appeared before Magistrate Zakhele Dlamini yesterday. He indicated that he would not seek legal representation.

It is alleged that October had asked Jackie for some cooking oil and thinking that he genuinely needed help, she tried to assist. Jackie is said to have taken some cooking oil to October, who then allegedly dragged her into the house and raped her.

After the alleged rape ordeal, Jackie is said to have quickly called the police and October was arrested. The alleged rape is said to have happened on June 30, 2022.

According to information submitted in court, October is said to have inflicted emotional, physical and mental trauma on the alleged survivor. He is further said to have put her at risk in that he had allegedly not used protection and put her at the risk of contracting HIV.

October was remanded in custody until July13, 2022 pending the setting of his trial date before the principal magistrate.
