Pigg’s Peak Youth Awards set the bar

- BY JOSEPH ZULU

PIGG’S PEAK – It was glitz and glamour at the first ever Pigg’s Peak Youth Awards, that was held last week.

A total of 35 people were nominated at the event. The awards are a brainchild of Kwazi Masimula, were held at the Gobolondlo Multi-purpose Hall. Masimula, is a young businesswoman, and also the organiser of the popular Miss Pigg’s Peak Beauty Pageant.

At the same event, popular musicians M Nation and Nomfundo ‘Fufu’ Magongo were awarded Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Masimula shared that the idea of hosting the youth awards came after she attended the ‘Take a Lead Nkhosatana’ workshop organised by the Commonwealth Local Government Forum (CLGF) through the Pigg’s Peak Town Council.

She said it was at that event where she learnt about business and the decision to come up with the youth awards.

About 35 people were nominated for the awards, but only 17 scooped prizes.

They were presented with certificates for their achievements. The nominees were picked from around the Pigg’s Peak Constituency’s.
