ARMED ROBBERY

Armed robbery is mostly motivated by the desire to obtain quick cash and electronic items. It involves the use of illegal firearms, sharp objects including knives and pangas.

Criminals frequently target residentia­l homesteads and business areas for cash and items such as electronic­s, cellphones which are sold in the black market.

Such cases occur both during the day and night and this crime mostly concentrat­ed at high population areas like Mbabane , Sidwashini, Fonteyn, Msunduza, Hilltop, and surroundin­g suburbs; Matsapha (Mathangeni), New Village, Mhlaleni, Mbikwakhe and in Manzini (Fairview, Ngwane Park, Moneni and Elwandle).

CAR THEFT: 29 CARS STOLEN BETWEEN MANZINI-MBABANE SINCE

APRIL 2022- 30 JUNE 2022 29 cars were stolen around both cities. Vehicles are stolen generally for different reasons;

For temporary transporta­tion, such was hostility between individual­s, dagga-related feuds and community feuds over land. Methods commonly used to commit murder include shooting, stabbing, beating and strangulat­ion.

Concerned

All the regions in the country are affected in so far as murder cases are concerned – with the Manzini region at the top, according to the report.

The report adds: “While the cases may be on the rise, it is worth reporting that most suspects have been arrested and are awaiting trial at the High Court.” as use in another crime

Criminals target motorists who had become accustomed to parking their cars unattended at public parking lots of extended periods of time, as well as valuables left inside the cars such as cellphones, laptops, purses etc.

BODILY HARM

This nature of crime is prevalent at both rural and urban settlement­s. Like in murder incidents, these violent acts appear to be common in intoxicati­ng outlets (bars) where patrons would engage into senseless fights, some of which resulted in fatalities.

It cannot be omitted that violence at homes contribute­s immensely to these disturbing numbers where members, instead of harmonious­ly solving their difference­s, they would opt for violence.
