“We need women who are so strong they can be gentle, so educated they CAN BE HUMBLE, SO fiERCE THEY CAN BE compassionate, so passionate they can be rational, and so disciplined they can be free.”

MBABANE – It doesn’t have to be foreign to be audible!

The one notion since the dawn of time in the events industry, has been stuck on bringing in foreign acts for shows to boost attendance and the shows momentum. It definitely worked with huge numbers in attendance for these events, but it also shined the light away from local artists who are as equally talented as the out sourced artists.

This ‘way of life’ has been put to rest by OneWay Entertainment with the upcoming ‘Spring Festival’ that will feature only the hottest acts the kingdom has to offer. When reached for a comment, OneWay Entertainment Co-founder, Samkelo Sihlongonyane said, “We are broadly and proudly saying local is lekker, with the initiative through this show, we would like to spread this spirit to music lovers in the country.”

The festival will take place on August 27, this year at Mega Lounge. The event will be graced by the best talent in Eswatini. From DJs, musicians, performers to social media influencers.

The event will have a four-phase-line up which will be announced on social media platforms soon. This split comes as a momentum builder, especially because they are trying to slowly infuse the relationship of supporting and filling up spaces in support of local talent. This is a foreign-adopted concept that the events stable saw fit to build suspense and keep everyone glued to the direction the event will take.

Formed

OneWay Entertainment is a 100 per cent Swati-founded entertainment stable that has been around from the year 2012. The stable was formed by a group of friends and later left to Samkelo ‘Mukky’ Sihlongonyane and Andile ‘Danger’ Shongwe, with the sole intention of uplifting young Swati artists and all creatives around the entertainment space. “We have been hosting our own events and have also been involved in other entertainment stable’s concept creation, strategising and marketing,” further elaborated Sihlongonyane. The stable is known for pioneering and influencing of the ‘Fireworks’ and ‘Pens down’ concepts. Most of the events they have hosted have been around Manzini and Mbabane. These include Ocean Waves, Tinkers, White House Nightclub just to name a few.

They have also had the opportunity to work with a few South African-based artists namely Kwesta, Shota, Witness the Funk and DJ Clock, as most of the events we greatly popular from the House music and Hip Hop era.

They had gone radio silent after the COVID-19 pandemic hit; their last event was in 2019. Since then, a whole new generation of music and talent took over the entertainment industry, mainly being the Amapiano scene which inspired the stable to pick up where they left off and bring and revive the fire that they once had for the entertainment scene, to rebrand and continue the work they had started.

Their sole purpose is uplifting and helping Swazi artists through the events platform so they can get exposure and grow.
