MBABANE hahahaha’! –‘Gomora

Eswatini-born actor, Sithembiso Kunene’s role at the popular South African TV series Gomora will air next week.

Kunene’s role on the series is about a community member in Gomora who initiated the mob to take justice into their hands because they were tired of Mr Lebalo.

Lebalo uses his power and influence to sleep and take advantage of young girls in the community in the storyline. The soapie is one of the fastest rising television drama series in South Africa produced by Seriti Films.

It’s filmed in Alexandra Township, hence the name of the series. It is an M-Net original and airs on Mzansi Magic, channel 161 Monday to Fridays at 7.30pm.

Kunene’s agency called the actor and asked if he was interested in being part of the show for a few scenes, to which he responded with a definite yes.

Oppourtunity

“I couldn’t say no because the opportunity was very important in growing my resume as an actor.

“Most established actors will tell you that they started small, as background actors or features before they got lead roles.

“So for me to be part of that show even if it was for a few scenes was important because as an actor no role is ever small,” said the Kunene.

The actor further explained that he saw all roles as equally important because they made the whole production a success at the end of the day.

Bigger

His main focus right now was to grow from these small roles into bigger one’s that would allow him to represent a large number of people in the kingdom.

He highlighted how he felt that the people’s voices in the kingdom weren’t as loud because there were a few people who represent the siSwati language and he believed that he would be able to cover the gap through storytelling.

“With regards to the work I’ve done is the first Swazi Series called Ekhaya, I’ve done a lot of film school movies which helped me grow as an actor and I’ve also been on Diepcity as a background actor last year then Gomora which was this year.

Recognition

“I’ve also got recognition in the kingdom in the social media awards as best TV personality.

“I’ve also worked on TV adverts and billboards with MTN.

“I haven’t really done much because I’m fairly new in industry years but I’m definitely looking forward to doing more work because my agency has a lot of great opportunities lined up for me. What’s yours will never miss you,” expressed the actor.
