MBABANE – National First Division side Nsingizini Hotspurs have joined in the fight against gender-based violence (GBV).

The Shiselweni-based outfit are joining initiators Manzini Wanderers and Denver Sundowns in the awareness campaign supported by the Nazarene Compassionate Ministries (NCM). The two Manzini-based outfits felt the need to use football as a vehicle to educate the Shiselweni folk about GBV.

The partnership with the NCM was launched last month at the Manzini Total Coffee Shop, where it was revealed that the two teams would play a friendly match at the King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium on July 30, 2022.

The date has, however, been changed to August 6 to make way for the Bible Cup billed for the Mavuso Sports Centre on July 30. This was disclosed by Zwakele Simelane on behalf of the campaign during yesterday’s Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Services (EBIS 1) Sports Show.

He also said the event would be big, as other teams joined the drive including some chief executive officers (CEOs) from different companies.

Awareness

“Nsingizini Hotspurs and a pick team of Under-23 from the Shiselweni Region have also joined in the GBV awareness campaign to be played on August 6 at King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium,” Simelane said.

He then invited the Shiselweni Region folk to cascade to the stadium to be educated about GBV by experts.
