MBABANE – Victory is always sweet but even sweeter when it is unexpected.

This was the feeling shared by golfer Patrick Gamedze who joined 21 other golfers on Friday for the weekly edition of the Dups Insurance-sponsored Leg of Lamb Golf Tournament staged at the Manzini Golf Course.

Gamedze’s 18 points on count back placed him at the peak of the score board ahead of the pair of Louise Erasmus and Sifiso Zubuko who registered the same points. Excited after his victory, he vowed to defend his title in the next edition penned for Friday morning at the tournament’s home turf and tee off is at 10am.

“It was an unexpected victory as I’ve been off the course for some time. Anyways, when you play freely without a victory expectation, this does happen.

“We always take these Friday nine holes as a chance to catch up with golfing buddies and distress after a hectic week. The course is always challenging but I’m sure I’ll be up to defend the title in the next competition,” Gamedze said.

Sponsorship

Manzini Golf Club received an annual sponsorship of E72 000 to run the tournament for the whole year.

Gamedze also thanked the sponsor for affording the local golf community the competition, which also positively impacts their health and improved their quality of life.

Club Captain Wakie Lawrence regretted the low number of female golfers and en

talent that can only blossom with support and opportunities carried by this foundation. I want to use the little that I’ve obtained as tool to make a progress for them through sports and education (sic),” Mongale said.

Support

couraged them to join the next edition as well as monthly club tournaments.

Sharing

“Manzini Golf Club is welcoming to everyone. We are a family here and we would like to see more lady golfers sharing this experience. We are grateful to our sponsor and are looking forward to the tournament,” Lawrence said.
