Late cop’s family meeting flops

MBABANE – Stalemate!

The family of the late police officer, Bonginkosi Gonisika Dlamini, which is currently embroiled in a dispute, failed to reach a consensus on Tuesday after a meeting held at the Manzini Police Station.

The family is expected to meet this coming Sunday (July 31, 2022), to try and sort out their feud. The feud led to one of the family members’cars being burnt down and his house almost being set alight at Ensingweni.

The reason for the Dlamini family members’ failure to come to an agreement was because a close relative was being accused of being a snitch, which resulted in the death of the police officer, who was shot and killed at Mathangeni, two weeks ago.

Thulani Dlamini, a family member, said they had a fruitless meeting at Manzini Police Station despite the station commander’s attempt to ensure that they reached an agreement as a family. “The matter is not easy as one may assume. In that regard, I do not know whether we will sort it out or not,” he said.

Leaders

Thulani further said they were advised by the Manzini Police Station commander to meet traditional leaders who would assist them in sorting out the issue, of which this coming Sunday was proposed as being a suitable day. He said the two parties were expected to be present on the day. “We just hope that we are going to come to an agreement. The truth of the matter is that there are so many issues that need to be addressed,” said Thulani.

Albert Dlamini, who is being accused of having a hand in the feud, said the station commander, told his family members to refrain from calling him names. He, however, said he felt there was no need for the next meeting since they debated on the matter in front of police officers, which ended with no positive results.

Serious

“I was first called all sorts of names by the people I trusted. I kept quiet because I did not know exactly what they wanted from me. I am grateful that after they made serious allegations against me, they were called to order by the station commander,” saidAlbert. He further stated that while his brothers were busy calling him names, they were told to issue proof of the allegations they were making. Albert said he was hoping that the meeting he would attend this coming Sunday would yield positive results.
