Sir,
My colleagues and I have been following the crisis in the country at a distance but I guess close enough to understand their position in seeing justice done.
Everyone in Eswatini is presumed innocent until proven guilty, even if the person’s hand was caught red-handed in the cookie jar.
Justice
Those who know better call this justice; we call it something else.
However, all people are asking
Botswana, who held the SACU chair from July 15, 2021 to July 14, 2022, with the chairmanship rotating among the member States in alphabetical order. This latest rotation means that the Minister of Finance, Neal Rijkenberg, is the chairperson of the SACU Council of Ministers, while the Principal Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Finance, Sizakele Dlamini, chairperson of the SACU Commission. This is our year. Eswatini has indeed laid its hands on the golden goose.
Source
According to the minister of Fincance, SACU receipts remain an essential, though very unstable source of revenue as at half-year of the 2020/21 financial year, for from politicians is to do what is correct for the country without being intimidated. If they do their work well, they will restore the people’s shattered confidence in the system.
Corruption
People claim that the tinkhundla system of government is not accountable and that it is riddled with corruption.
Politicians have an opportunity to prove to everyone that the system does at least try to hold people to account. In return, their names will be remembered for a long time. If they
don’t do their work, they would have made illegitimate the entire system and the multi-party voices will become attractive to everyone. There is so much riding on this crisis as every right thinking liSwati can see.
The system is being sabotaged by greedy people who care nothing about their legacy.
When public looting by the system’s very own officials is not punished, people always blame the system.
Hhayi bo, it’s not the system good people but it’s the people in it. tinkhundla supporters are the ones who make the system look unclean and corrupt.
To discover that some people have been looting every time they have
served in public office in the past many years, makes me think what else have they looted that we don’t know about. Bekunene, yinkhulu phela lendzaba.
Survival
The survival of the country should be prioritised by all in the country as government has seemingly lost the moral authority to govern long time ago.
All we have been hearing are threats instead of politicians dealing with the issues at hand.
They have nothing else left to give except the last kicks; therefore please pray for them.
