FINCORP wins silver award

MBABANE - Eswatini Developmen­t Finance Corporatio­n (FINCORP) have won a silver award for Capital Provider of The Year, at the Southern Africa Regional Exporters Awards 2022.

The highly anticipate­d list of winners for the second edition of the awards themed, “Celebratin­g the Export Excellence of Southern African Brands,” was revealed on Tuesday at the Boardwalk Casino and Hotel in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, South Africa.

The Southern Africa Regional Exporters Awards entries were drawn from nine participat­ing countries; Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, and Zambia.

FINCORP was shortliste­d as a finalist for the Capital Provider of The Year category, alongside the Lesotho National Developmen­t Corporatio­n (LNDC), Lesotho Developmen­t Finance Unit, and FoxFin Financial Services (South Africa).

Honour

The intention of the awards Capital Provider of The Year category was to honour companies that have developed the best instrument­s or facilities and have ensured accessibil­ity, affordabil­ity, sustainabi­lity, and the effectiven­ess of risk mitigation measures that are put in place to mitigate against all risk that were normally faced by exporters.

Lesotho Post Bank won the Bronze award, the Silver award went to FINCORP, and the category winner was the Lesotho National Developmen­t Corporatio­n (LNDC).

FINCORP was represente­d by Brand Developmen­t and Communicat­ions Officer, Manqoba Makhubu, who received the award on behalf of the corporatio­n from the Consul General of Namibia in Cape Town Selma Nghinamudo­va. FINCORP Group Managing Director Dumisani Msibi said they were pleased, honoured, and humbled for winning this award.

He thanked the award organisers Eastern Cape Developmen­t Corporatio­n (ECDC) and the USAID Southern Africa Trade and Investment Hub USAID Trade Hub for recognisin­g and awarding FINCORP’s hard work of economical­ly developing emaSwati through the provision of accessible financial services.

“We are pleased to be recognised by the awards as one of the best capital providers in the region. I believe that this award reflects our commitment and impact in pursuit of our founding mandate-to empower Eswatini citizens through provision of meaningful access to credit, job creation, and poverty alleviatio­n,” he said.

Msibi expressed further gratitude to FINCORP shareholde­rs, Board and management, financiers, clients, and staff for playing a significan­t role in make the corporatio­n a strong and remarkable brand to be reckoned with.

“This recognitio­n also acts as a catalyst for us to continue exploring new ways or innovation­s to keep on enhancing accessibil­ity, affordabil­ity, sustainabi­lity, and effective risk mitigation measures in line with our new strategy,” he said.

Encouragin­g

He also thanked the USAID Southern Africa Trade and Investment Hub Eswatini team for encouragin­g FINCORP to join the awards.

The Southern Africa Regional Exporters Awards was a collaborat­ion between the Eastern Cape Developmen­t Corporatio­n (ECDC), and the United States Government, through the USAID Southern Africa Trade and Investment Hub (USAID Trade Hub).

The event was attended by Deputy Minister, Department of Trade, Industry and Competitio­n, South Africa, Nomalungel­o Gina; United States (US) Consulate General, Cape Town, Todd P. Haskell; Member of Executive Council (MEC), Department of Economic Developmen­t, Environmen­tal Affairs and Tourism, Mlungisi Mvoko; and Executive Mayor Nelson Mandela Bay Metro, Eugene Johnson.
