Waterford Kamhlaba Careers Fair a success
MBABANE - Various tertiary institutions and organisations participated in the 15th Annual Waterford Kamhlaba (UWCSA) Careers Fair, which took place at the school’s premises yesterday.
The careers fair is aimed at educating high school pupils to learn about different sectors of the economy, while exposing them to various educational and career opportunities. Over the years, the careers fair has empowered students from Eswatini to access career information from a number of companies, organisations and higher learning institutions, so that they are able to choose their career path from an informed position.
Initiative
This is an initiative which is part of the Careers Support Initiative (CSI) programme, which is a community service project led by students from UWCSA. The fair was attended by over 30 high schools and about 25 organisations; also present were about 15 tertiary institutions which all provided emaSwati pupils and graduates with information to guide them on the path of obtaining their future careers. Some of the high schools present were Vulamasango, Inkhanyeti, Mbalenhle ChristianAcademy, St Mark’s, Mbuluzi and Lobamba National. Organisations that were present as future employers among many were Real Image Internet, Nguwe Likusasa Letfu, Standard
Bank, The Hilton Garden Inn, African Alliance as well as Eswatini Tourism Authority (ETA). During the event, students seemed to know what they wanted, as they flooded most of the tertiary institutions’ stalls, asking all sorts of questions relating to qualifying for enrollment and the different courses offered by these various institutions. Some of the tertiary institutions present included Regent Business School, Good Shepard, Limkokwing University of creative Technology, University of Johannesburg, the University of Eswatini (UNESWA) and Southern African Nazarene University (SANU) to name a few. Speaking to John Storer, the Director of Admission and University Advisor ay UWCSA, he said: “I am quite happy with the turn out and most of the invited organisations showed up to the careers fair. I am very happy with the positive response; I hope next year will be bigger and better.”
