MBABANE – The man who registered his mother’s cattle in his name has been ordered to facilitate the proper registration of the bovines.

The judge also ordered and directed Sikhombisa to forthwith attend to the office of the principal secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, to sign all necessary papers to enable the change of ownership of the cattle to Sibongani 'lamini¶s name.

Alternatively, the court authorised Khu]wayo 'lamini, a veterinary officer, to sign all necessary papers to enable the change of ownership of the cattle from his name to Si bongani¶s.

The principal secretary in the min istry was ordered to issue a new dip tank number for the cattle.

Sibongani was represented by M[ olisi 'lamini of 'ynasty Inc. Attor neys.

In her papers, Sibongani (73) told the court that she discovered that her seven cattle were registered in her son¶s name when she was informed that the police were looking for him as the owner of the cattle after bo vines had strayed onto the main road. Sibongani said she was shocked that the cattle were registered in Sikhom bisa¶s name.

Ownership

She has approached the +igh Court where she is seeking an order directing Sikhombisa to forthwith release and sign all necessary papers to facilitate the transfer and change of ownership of the herd of cattle to her name.

The elderly woman also wants the court to order and direct her son to attend to the office of the principal secretary in the Ministry Agriculture to sign all the necessary papers to enable the change of ownership of the cattle to her name.

Sibongani informed the court that Sikhombisa is one of her 12 chil dren with her husband, who is now deceased.

She submitted that in 2014, she received a cow (insulamnyembeti) from her daughter¶s in laws during her lobola ceremony. She said the other cattle were sold to cater for gifts (umhlambiso) and only one cow remained.

According to Sibongani, she re quested Sikhombisa, her son, who stayed with her at the homestead, to go to the dip tank to register the cow in her name and gave him his national identity card. She submitted that unbeknown to her, Sikhombisa registered the cow in his name and was given the number 80 at the dip tank.

The elderly woman said the cows gave birth every year since 2014 and she entrusted Sikhobisa to take the calves to the dip tank to be reg istered and he allegedly did so but in his name.

³I thought the cows were registered in my name yet I had been taken for a ride. Presently the cows are seven and they are all registered in the name of the first respondent (Sik hombisa),´ said Sibongani.

She submitted that she got to know that the cattle were registered in the name of her son in -une 2022, after one cow strayed onto MR3 Public Road (Mbabane Man]ini +ighway).

Registered

³After the police were looking for the owner of the cattle, I was advised by the veterinary officer of our dip tank, one Khu]wayo 'lamini, that the first respondent was being sought by the police in relation to his cattle that had strayed onto the road.

³I then enquired from the first respondent as to how the cattle got to be registered in his name and he told me that the veterinary officer at the dip tank advised him to register the cattle in his name since he would be the one looking after the cattle,´ said Sibongani.

The elderly woman said she told Sikhombisa that he had to facilitate the change of ownership of the cattle at the dip tank to her name and he seemed to agree.

She alleged that Sikhombisa sang a different tune when the date and time they had agreed upon for the change of ownership arrived and she realised that he did not want to facilitate the change of ownership.
