MDouble celebration!

BABANE –

She was born in August 7, 1991 and she accepted Christ and got saved in August 7, 2021.

Seeing that this publication falls on her birthday and the date was the same as the day she got saved a year ago, 31-year-old Thandeka Nzima decided to share her story with Times SUNDAY.

Her story is inspiring and touching, she narrated how she purposely gave her child the wrong father, lived with a sugar daddy to pay her school fees, how her parents died of an HIV related illnesses when she was doing Form II and how she survived depression.

Nzima said she grew up as a wayward child, getting into all sorts of trouble at home. She narrated that throughout the three decades of her life, she messed things up until the day she accepted Christ into her life.

HAILS

She currently stays between Madonsa Township and St Joseph Mission, but she hails from Maliyaduma in the outskirts of Manzini.

“Seeing that it’s my birthday today, I have decided to share my story to encourage other young girls not to do what I use to do,” she said as she introduced her story.

Nzima said she used to drink a lot and was addicted to drugs, such as marijuana and others. She stated that she spent most of her time drinking alcohol and partying with friends.

She further mentioned that in one of her many escapades, she fell pregnant and gave birth to a baby boy. She narrated that she made a choice to give the child to one of her boyfriends knowing very well that he was not his child.

EMPHASISED

Quizzed on the reasons for her decision, Nzima said she thought she loved the boyfriend and he was the better man to be a father of her child. She emphasised that she was aware now that the decision was a bad one and encouraged other ladies not to deprive children of their biological fathers for their own selfish reasons.

“I literally needed God to save me and show me the mess I had made of my life. I thank Him for giving me the courage to face my demons and admit my mistakes, even to the people that I have wronged. I had to face my two boyfriends and confess to the other that the child does not belong to him and apologise for my action.

INCONSIDERATE

‘‘It was also important that I apologise to the real father of my child for the time he lost, of being in the life of his child. I tried to explain why I hid his child from him but it all came down to me being selfish and inconsiderate of others. I don’t want young people, especially ladies, to fall into the same trap as I did. I want to make my birthday special by sharing a God that can help people out of sticky situations like mine,” she said.

Nzima noted that all the important people in her life had rejected her and for many years she lived a meaningless life that was controlled by alcohol and drugs.

COMPROMISED

Born of a Mozambican mother and a father from Eswatini, Nzima said she suffered anxiety, as the need to find a place to belong was conveniently compromised by a reckless lifestyle.

She said her mother died when she was doing Grade 7 and her father followed soon after, when she was doing Form 2. Nzima revealed that both her parents died of HIV related illnesses.

She stated that after finishing school, she enrolled for a Diploma in Archives and Records Management and she had to live with an older man, who paid her school fees in exchange for sex.

“I did not like what I was doing because it was not what I was taught at St Joseph Mission. I later fell into depression and lost a lot of weight and I did not know what was happening to me. I tried to get to help from people and I remember how a Dlamini guy tried to get me to accept an ancestral calling. I was willing to do anything for my life to get better, yet I was still sinking deeper into alcohol and drugs. My story is very long and I am currently unemployed, but I am happy and better in Christ than I was when I was unsaved,” she elaborated.

ENCOUNTER

She said in August 7, 2021 when one of her then boyfriends had organised a party for her birthday, she had an encounter with the Holy Spirit that changed her life.

“It was supposed to be a party but God had other plans. I still cannot put into words what happened on that day, but I know that was the day my life changed. I had resigned from my work on that day because things were not working out for me,” she said.

Nzima mentioned that she had started seeking Christ before her birthday, but alcohol and drugs were her main let-down.

She stated that she was now clean and living a drug free life.

Nzima noted that all the important people in her life had rejected her and for many years she lived a meaningless life that was controlled by alcohol and drugs.
